The Albury Wodonga Regional Suicide Prevention Network (AWRSPN) is a not for profit organisation, developed in conjunction with Wesley Mission LifeForce in 2010. The AWRSPN recognises the cost of suicide to our community. The network has been created to provide a forum for community members and service providers to work together to develop strategies to reduce the impact of suicide in the Albury Wodonga Region. We seek to inform and empower community members by creating awareness about suicide prevention.
Our network aims to:
Reduce suicidal intention and reduce deaths or serious injury by suicide or attempted suicide
Reduce the stigma of suicide and mental health in our community
Provide a forum for existing organisations, and individuals, to develop collaborative projects in suicide prevention
Promote an awareness of the early warning signs of a person’s intention to complete suicide
Educate, empower and resource our local communities
Continue to work towards improvement in suicide prevention and awareness
Promote awareness of postvention services in our community
Area
The Network operates across the Albury Wodonga region including the NSW shires of; Albury, Greater Hume, Urana, Corowa, Urana, Deniliquin, Jerilderie and Berrigan and the Victorian shires of; Wodonga, Indigo, Towong and Alpine.
